About the Event
RESPONSE AND ACTION TOWARD FULFILLING THE COVID-19 NATIONAL ACTION PLAN
On our 8th month now of battling against the COVID-19 pandemic, the country continues to reel amidst the political, social, and health infrastructures which the state installed to contain the virus. What is the future for us? In this keynote address, I present the profound impact of the pandemic to the economy both of the country and global, the spiral effect to Mindanao’s current peace and security initiatives and development issues. I examine how the pandemic and its silent, yet deep, and traumatic imprint can influence the individual mind of the survivors. Examining this is cathartic for me, a COVID survivor. The outcome of our battle against COVID-19 is still uncertain. We follow the minimum health standards set by the state, but we can do more. This address, far from adding to current heavy weight of fear on us, is set to inflame the craving to do more by anthropologists and UGAT to be a part of national programs, in particular the COVID-19 National Action Plan.
